Science Test Tomorrow

Just a reminder to study for the science test that will be given tomorrow.  A study letter went home yesterday and we played "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" to review for the test.

Earth Rounds

Thank you so much to the parents who sent in the food for the children to make Earth Rounds.  The students learned about our natural resources on the planet and why it is important to conserve those resources.

Day of Fun!

Our students had a lot of spirit these last two weeks as they heavily participated in our spirit week.  The picture below shows the students on Friday who wore pajamas to school for Pajama Day.

A week of important tests

The students will be taking a lot of important assessments that will reflect their marks on their report cards. 

• Vocabulary test will be Thursday.  Your child should bring home a flip book tonight to practice Tuesday and Wednesday evening.
• Reading Theme Test 4 today and Wednesday.
• Math Focal Point Test tomorrow- Mrs. Kostka and I have been grouping kids to help meet their needs and give challenge to those who have mastered the 4th grade skills.

Assessment of Learning

Our students have started to evaluate their own learning.  We have been setting learning targets for our lessons of what the students should be able to do after instruction.  Today, the students took a test, corrected it, and wrote out what they have mastered and what they still need to learn.  It was a huge success!  Ask your child tonight what 4th grade math skills they still need to practice.

It feels and looks like spring!

We started our spring art project today in celebration of the warm, wonderful weather we are experiencing today.  The projects will be on display during our academic night, April 7th.  Here is a sneak peek!

Literacy Stations

We worked on our Character Study literacy station this afternoon.  The students are working extra hard on the final products to display at Kozy Academic Night.  In the pictures, students are working on making a portrait of the person they read about.

Information

I sent home the booklog for the week today.  Sorry I didn't have copies on Friday.  Therefore, the students reading over the weekend is not mandatory for the booklog this week.  It is still due on Friday.

We desperately need pencils in the classroom.  Please send some with your child so that he or she always has a pencil to write with.

Three Types of Rock Experiment

The students experimented first hand making igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks using food.  Then they enjoyed eating the "sedimentary rocks."
